Waldorf Private Guided Reading Session

Service Description

This class is a one on one private reading tutoring session for all ages. For younger students we will use fairytales, folktales, and stories appropriate for a Waldorf student's age and grade level. Beginner reader sessions include phonics, letter recognition, beginning writing and handwriting, and leveled readers to help students to feel successful and engaged in reading. I use drawing work as a pre-writing engagement tool. Please provide a 9x12 sketchpad and beeswax stick and block crayons for younger students and colored pencils for grade 3 and up. I teach novel studies including plots and character analysis, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and discussion for higher level students. As a teacher and librarian for six years at a Waldorf school, I am able to bring these amazing tales and stories into our reading lessons to work on reading skills such as phonics, fluency, and grammar. I keep children engaged and excited to participate throughout the lesson. I will assess a student's reading level in our first session and work from there. We will read stories, answer comprehension questions, and do grammar activities. This class is perfect for a Waldorf homeschooler or a Waldorf student who would like to supplement (whether struggling or advanced). I am a Master Linguist and able to scaffold lessons for students. This is perfect to give to evaluators or teachers to best support students.
